CARBOHYDRATES

Carboydrate is the greatest energy resources. And almost in the world, especially in developing countries around 80% use carbohydrate as resources energy, and 20% use protein and grease.

When :

1 gram carbohydrate will produce energy equivalent 4,5 calories

1 gram carbohydrate will produce energy equivalent 4,5 calories

1 gram grease will produce energy equivalent 9 calories

Carbohydrate used as energy recources caused :

  1. easy looking for/ much in nature
  2. easy cultivationing
  3. the cost is cheap relative.

In nutrient science, carbohydrate can be classified in 3 class :

  1. Monosakarida is simple sugars that containing 1 unit sugar

Example : a. Glukosa ( grape sugar)

b. Fruktosa (fruit sugar)

c. Galaktosa and Manosa (milk sugar)

characteristic :

- easy soluble in water

- can be crystaled

- have sweet taste

  1. Disakarida is carbohydrate that containing 2 unit monosakarida

Example : a. Sukrosa (sand sugar)

b. Laktosa (milk sugar)

c. Maltosa (malt sugar)

characteristic :

- have sweet taste

- soluble in water

  1. Polysakarida is carbohydrate that containing much unit sugar.

Example : Sellulosa, Pektin, Jelly, Gum

Characteristic :

- have molecule heavy that great

- It wasn’t crystaled

- No have sweet taste

- Cann’t soluble in water

- Have various absorbed ability

The benefit of carbohydrates are :

  1. as energy recources
  2. economical proteins as energy recources
  3. manage grease metabolism
  4. help fasting absorbed process.
